About us
Our journey began on our honeymoon trip to Kashmir, a place of breathtaking beauty and unparalleled artistry. During our visit, we were captivated by the intricate art and craft of the region, particularly the exquisite Kashmiri embroidery. Fascinated, we spent time with local artisans, learning about their techniques, traditions, and the painstaking efforts that go into creating these masterpieces. Little did we know, this trip would sow the seeds of something much larger—a shared dream to bring this artistry to the world. What started as an appreciation turned into a business idea, and the rest, as they say, is history. Today, that dream has grown into a celebration of Kashmiri craftsmanship, connecting its beauty with those who admire it globally.
"Mahkaush" is a special and meaningful name created by combining the names of our beloved grandmothers, Mahmooda and Kaushalaya. This unique name reflects a deep sense of family heritage and respect for the wisdom and love passed down through generations. By merging these two significant names, "Mahkaush" not only preserves the memories of both grandmothers but also carries their essence forward, symbolizing unity, strength, and familial bonds. Each letter of the name serves as a tribute to their lasting influence, ensuring that their legacy continues to live on in a new, distinct form.
Mahkaush aims to bridge the gap between heritage and modernity, showcasing the enduring beauty of Kashmir’s craft to the world. Through this initiative, the essence of Kashmiri culture is not only preserved but also given a new dimension, fostering sustainable livelihoods for the artisans and keeping their invaluable legacy alive.
